If you have arthritis, no doubt you have tried many things to reduce your chronic pain. There is a lot to choose from – medications from your pharmacy or doctor, natural remedies including essential oils, herbal remedies, remedies that have been passed down for centuries like apple cider vinegar and honey or cinnamon and honey but there are also homeopathic remedies for arthritis that you may want to check out.
Although homeopathy has a very broad range of remedies for many ailments, there are four specific ones that could be helpful for arthritis pain. Not a lot of people think of homeopathy when it comes to arthritis, but really it could help a lot. Here are four remedies in alphabetical order:
Apis:
Specifically Apis melifica is made from honeybees, including their venom and stinger. This homeopathic remedy alleviates pain and swelling, as well as burning sensations, which is why it can be helpful with people who have arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis and suffer from hot, burning, stinging pain and from swelling and associated tenderness in their joints. The good news is that this can reduce stiffness and pain from hands and knee areas, for example.
Belladonna:
This herb is also called ‘deadly nightshade’. When belladonna is used for homeopathy, it is good for arthritis pain when the pain comes suddenly, often followed by throbbing and some swelling. If the pain is intense, then try belladonna – for example if joints are knocked or jarred and pain is the result.
Bryonia:
This remedy can be used if joints are swollen and also hot and these areas are painful when touched. Also if a tearing pain results when there is just a slight movement. So basically when arthritis is very painful and localized and movement causes pain.
Rhus Toxicodendron (also known as Rhus Tox):
If your arthritis pain worsens as night approaches and also in the morning when you awaken, rhus toxicodendron is the remedy to use. Your arthritis may get worse when the weather is cold and damp and therefore relief comes with warmth and movement helps as well. Another indicator for this remedy is when your joints get hot and painful with swelling and stiffness.
You should also know that homeopathic remedies come in various potencies – usually ending with an X, such as 6X or 30X. The remedies themselves come in the form of tiny pills or pellets which should be dissolved under the tongue.
It is best to visit a homeopathic doctor who can advise you and monitor your treatment.
