  • Everyone knows about arthritis as it has affected their life some way or another, either personally or through a friends or family that are afflicted with the disease. Even though it would appear that older people succomb to this disease, unfortunately it is also affected people of every age - even teenagers (juvenile arthritis).

Everyone should get professional care and advice if they think they have arthritis. Your health care professional will be able to help you. Many people are permanently on drugs to help them to keep symptoms to a minimum and for pain relief.

However, natural remedies for arthritis are also available.

Some of them require a lifestyle change, such as going on an anti-inflammatory diet. Arthritis is all about swelling joints so choosing foods that naturally reduce or inhibit swelling is a great thing. It just means you should be including foods that have lots of vitamins and fiber in them, such as leafy green vegetables and also eating whole grains. Fish oil is also anti-inflammatory so salmon is perfect. Eating this way not only helps your with arthritis but is good for your heart too!

Another option is regular massage. Talk to a massage therapist who can explain how he or she can help keep your body supple and attend to joint issues. Heated massage is also great for arthritis.

You could also go swimming regularly. Not only is this a great form of exercise, but you are able to exercise all your joints at the same time. This is one of the best forms of exercise if you have arthritis as it is gentler on your body. Of course, swimming is also great for becoming more supple generally and is a wonderful form of exercise.

There are also many options to combat pain relief, such as apple cider vinegar and honey. If this is taken regularly, it can really help relieve arthritic pain.

Check out natural remedies for arthritis as many are simple, easy and make sense!

While the pain and fatigue that goes along with rheumatoid arthritis can be excruciating and is without a doubt a possibly debilitating condition, there is actually a form of arthritis that is worse. Psoriatic arthritis is a form of the disease that affects not only the joints, but also the skin, and possibly the tendons, eyes, spine, heart and lungs.

In most people who suffer from psoriatic arthritis, the first sign that something is wrong is the inflammation of the skin. Patients can develop psoriasis on their elbows, knees, scalp, and area around the navel and around the anus or genitals. Psoriasis causes red, raised areas of scaly skin. The signs of the skin disease are first seen in the forties or fifties and generally precede joint pain by several months to years. Once the joint pain starts, it generally involves the joints in the feet, ankles and knees. Inflammation can cause the joints to become red, hot and swollen. Often toes and fingers swell so badly they can resemble sausages. Psoriatic arthritis can also affect the spine.
